- Maersk does not have a BL printing option in Nepal locations – Kathmandu and Birganj. If customer wants to print Original Bill of Lading at destination, then they can take a print at our Maersk office in Kolkata, India. Transport Document Issuance Service fee will be applicable.

- Additionally, free time can also be purchased through our Import Detention and Demurrage Dashboard prior to ETA minus 15 days of the vessel’s arrival at the final port of discharge (Kolkata and Visakhapatnam).
- Please note that additional free days available for purchase and cost thereof may vary based on the purchase stage. Please refer updated cost on website at each of the stages.
- Once additional free time is purchased, the charges will be billed to your shipment, and the invoice will be available for download on MY FINANCE. These Free Time Extension/Additional Free time purchase charges are non-refundable (even if the purchased free time is not used).
- We encourage you to purchase additional free time as per your shipment requirements to avoid any Detention & Demurrage (DnD) charges, as waivers would not be feasible.

Inland transportation, also known as haulage or drayage, often involves multiple handling processes, many local vendors, and several modes of transport. This leaves you managing and monitoring several contact points, which can become both time consuming and costly to your business.

Foreign Consignee Shipments: Will be retained on board
- All import shipments moving to Nepal via Indian port must have a valid Nepal consignee with full address, without which container cannot be manifested / allowed to discharge as per Indian Customs regulations.
- Delivery should be reflected as a Nepal location. If the consignee on the MBL is an Indian forwarder with Place of Delivery as Nepal, an HBL manifest request must be submitted to Maersk to ensure the actual consignee is a local Nepal customer.
- In cases where there is a discrepancy in Place of Delivery or consignee detail/s, the IGM for such shipments is put on hold, and Maersk origin offices are notified to rectify the discrepancy within a stipulated timeframe. If the necessary corrections are not made in time, the shipment is Retained on Board (ROB) of the vessel, while the IGM is filed for other shipments.
In-Transit clauses on bill of lading
"In-transit" clauses may be included on the original B/L for import shipments to Nepal via Indian ports. However, free time clauses should not be mentioned unless a specific free time agreement has been approved and filed in Maersk systems. Free time clause under the cargo description on the B/L will be rejected if it is not duly approved and filed. This is to ensure accurate free time is provided on the shipment upon container discharge and to avoid any dispute at later stage.
Bank Guarantee
- Shipment of “Yellow Peas” commodity HS code: 07131010 is not accepted into Nepal by Maersk unless there is a Bank Guarantee provided by Consignee ensuring the release of the shipment on arrival and Government of Nepal is allowing such import.
- Bookings for Out of Gauge Cargo and 45' Containers into Nepal is not accepted on Carrier Haulage.
- Containers which are more than 9'6" high are considered out of gauge (OOG) and cannot be moved by rail or road under carrier haulage to Nepal.
- Carrier Haulage and Merchant Haulage movement of 45’ (9'6") high container is not accepted via Visakhapatnam to Nepal.
