- Conditions for EDO release
EDO (Electronic Delivery Order) is ready to be requested via Maersk website once four requirements below are met:
- Cargo release status
- Bill of lading status
+ Seaway Bill: Bill of lading (Waybill) issued at Origin.
+ Telex release (Surrenderred): Bill of lading (Originals) Surrenderred.
+ Original Bill of Lading (OBL): Bill of lading (Originals) Surrender Pending (*).
(*) Customer need to submit 01 set of endorsed OBL along with document receipt form can be surrendered to local counter. - Import manifest: Manifest submitted to customs.

- Prepaid charges payment is completed and received by Maersk origin.
- Collect charges payment is completed and received by Maersk destination
- Cargo release status
- EDO extension
In case Freetime is expired, customer can check demurrage / detention charges via Import Demurrage & Detention then transfer to Maersk bank account HERE. Once payment is made, please wait at least 2 hours before making your request for EDO extension via LINK.

Free time: "Free Time" is the period agreed between the Carrier and the Merchant for which Demurrage and Detention shall not be paid by the Merchant.
Detention: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier's Container outside the port, terminal, or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time.
Demurrage: Compensation payable when the Merchant holds Carrier’s Container inside the terminal, port, or depot beyond the agreed amount of Free Time (the compensation includes terminal storage costs).

- Reefer demurrage includes plug-in/electricity charges. The breakdown in tariff is for transparency.
- Shipper's own containers (SOC) are not subject to detention and demurrage and will be settled directly with terminal.
Import Process Timeline
- Mandatory Local Party for Haiphong destination (Deadline: ETA-7)
Local Consignee is mandatory, and Tax ID should be mentioned. If the document only mentions Local Notify Party without Local Consignee, then cargo cannot be discharged at destination.
* In case Local Consignee and Local Notify Party are missing, Shipping Instructions will be rejected by documentation team unless switch is involved.
* Failure to provide local party will risk cargo to become ROB (Remain-On-Board) and all cost incurred is under Shipper's responsibility. - BL Amendment (Deadline: ETA-3) & Procedures for BL Amendment (manifest)
The deadline for bill amendments is ETA-3 (first arrival port to Vietnam). After deadline, the import manifest amendment must be processed and the timeline is subject to customs approval.
Kindly note and comply on below required details to proceed manifest amendment
- OBLs must be submitted to Maersk if it’s negotiable Bill of Lading
- Specify amendment details
- Confirm payer for manifest amendment charges
- Ensure customers haven't opened customs clearance at destination (if customer has already opened customs clearance, please contact customer service for further guidance)
Timeline for manifest amendment is within 2-3 working days once confirmed for (1)(2)(3)(4) above
In case of any changes in timeline or charges, Maersk will inform customer accordingly. - Arrival Notice (Deadline: ETA-2) & Set up notifications
Arrival Notice will be sent to web under Consignee account and Notify party to registered email(s)

- Textiles and garments, footwear, clothes.
- Electronic appliances.
- Refrigerating appliances.
- Home electric appliances.
- Medical equipment.
- Interior decoration goods.
- Home appliances made of pottery, ceramic, glass, metal, plastic, rubber, and other materials.
- Assorted cultural products banned from dissemination and circulation or decided to be suspended from dissemination and circulation, or subject to revocation, confiscation and destruction in Vietnam.
- Goods being used information technology products.
- Assorted publications banned from dissemination and circulation in Vietnam.
Postage stamps banned from trading, exchange, display and dissemination in accordance with the Law on Post.
Radio equipment and radio-wave appliances which do not comply with radio frequency master plans and relevant technical regulations in accordance with the Law on Radio Frequencies - Right-hand drive means of transport (including those in knocked-down forms and those with converted drive before being imported in Vietnam), excluding special-use right-hand drive vehicles operating within a restricted location and not joining traffic, including: crane trucks; canal diggers, street sweepers, street washers; garbage trucks; road builders; passenger cars in airports and lifting trucks in warehouses and ports; concrete- pumping vehicles; vehicles moving only within golf courses or parks.
Assorted automobiles, four-wheeled drives and their spare parts which have their frame or engine numbers erased, modified or tampered with.
Assorted motorcycles, special-use motorbikes and motorbikes which have their frame or engine numbers erased, modified or tampered with. - Used supplies and vehicles, including:
- Engines, frames, inner tubes, tires, spare parts and motors of cars, trailers, semi-trailers, four-wheeled drives.
- Chassis of cars and tractors, fitted with engines (including new chassis fitted with used engines and used chassis fitted with new engines),
- Assorted cars which have been transformed in structure compared with their original designs.
- Cars, trailers, semi-trailers (other than dedicated trailers and semi-trailers), used passenger four-wheeled motor vehicles over 5 years, from the manufacture year to the import year.
- Ambulances.
- Wastes and scraps, refrigerating equipment using C.F.C.
- Samples of precious, rare and endangered animals and plants under Appendix I of CITES derived from natural resources being exported for commercial purpose.
Samples and processed products of species: white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum), black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), African elephants (Loxodonta africana).
- Weight / Measurement:
There are no limitations in any port as long as the weight does not exceed maximum allowable payload as per Container Safety Certificate (CSC) plate.
Maersk must approve for acceptance beyond Container Yard (CY) due to road and bridge limitations. - Special Cargo:
For Out-Of-Gauge (OOG), Break-Bulk (B/B), please request ad-hoc feeder rates from Offices & contact
- Dangerous cargo:
Acceptable to all Vietnamese ports except Cat Lai terminal but subject to prior acceptance from transshipment port/ feeder carrier. Please contact Offices & contact for more details.
Effective July 1st, 2024, Cat Lai Port will not accept IMO containers with final destination as Cat Lai Port(VNSGNCL).
Exceptions:
IMO containers for international transshipment.
IMO containers for international transit.
IMO containers for Container Freight Station (CFS) at Cat Lai Port.
