Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at A.P. Moller – Maersk
At Maersk, we want to build an organization that reflects the diversity of the world and the communities we serve. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone is empowered to thrive.
Diverse Abilities and Neurodiversity at Maersk
At Maersk we intentionally call disabilities diverse abilities to celebrate the skills and achievements, not perceived limitations, of all our employees while reflecting the inclusive culture we are proud of and continue to cultivate. We wholeheartedly believe that working in a culture that embraces and supports all abilities can positively impact overall engagement, productivity, and sense of belonging. This inclusive approach extends to Neurodiversity, recognizing and valuing the unique perspectives and contributions of neurodivergent individuals at Maersk.

Embracing neurodiversity
Diversity in all forms brings talent to our organisation and we are looking at ways to offer individuals with neurodiverse needs pathways to thriving careers.
As part of this focus, we work with partners to create recruitment programmes tailored towards neurodiversity hiring. In this way, we connect individuals to roles that allow them to grow and ensure that their managers are fully equipped to support them.

Turning ADHD into a superpower
Garret Riggio was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia when he was young. After facing tremendous challenges as a child, he has discovered the upside.
He uses his creativity, innovation, and multi-dimensional thinking to thrive in his role as Head of Sales Enablement for Cold Chain and Lead Logistics. His team understand his strengths and actively work to leverage them so that Garret can harness his abilities to do this best in his everyday life and at Maersk.
At Maersk we recognize the unique diversity of human minds and embrace the many ways people think, learn, and experience the world. There is no such thing as a “normal” brain – everyone processes information differently, and that’s what makes us stronger together.
Being born different does not define who I am
Leigh Ramsay has been at Maersk for over 15 years, starting as a graduate, she has spent most of her career here in various commercial and operation roles before joining the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team in Maersk headquarters in Copenhagen. Leigh is also chair of the Diverse Abilities Employee Resource Network at Maersk.
Leigh has a congenital condition called Syndactyly. This means she doesn’t have full fingers on both hands. She sees herself as born different, but it does not define who she is.
