Our Future Stars Academy in Germany is an early career program developed by Maersk Talent & Development, focusing on apprenticeships and dual study opportunities. The academy is designed to offer students a unique combination of academic learning and practical work experience. After 2.5 to 3 years, the participants graduate with either a bachelor's degree or an officially recognized professional certificate in Germany.

Why did you choose to join the Dual Study program?
I chose a dual study program because it allowed me to have a balanced learning approach, combining practical experience while pursuing my academic goals. Furthermore, it will ease my entry into the real working life after my studies since students from the program are usually offered a job in their cooperating firm.
Paul Korte
What was your biggest learning?
I have learned so much during my time here that it is hard to define one thing. I've learned how to work better in a team, handle certain situations, deal with stress, have fun at work, and so much more. Obviously, I also learned quite a lot at university, but I believe that personal growth is much more important than good grades.

What skills and interests are ideal for someone considering this apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship entails a good mix of theoretical learning and practical learning. I would recommend it to someone who is motivated to learn and who is interested in shipping and logistics. The apprenticeship is also a great recommendation for someone who likes to speak English and is interested in travelling”.

What would you highlight as one of the best things about your experience?
I feel much more prepared for the future, as I've managed to gather a lot of job experience in the last three years. I really enjoy the feeling of working in a team where everyone supports one another. I'd say it has helped me develop a lot, and I am gaining competence every day.

How has the company supported you throughout your apprenticeship?
The colleagues at Maersk always welcome us with open arms. They are usually excited to work with us, share their valuable knowledge, and hear our fresh perspectives. To fully focus on our studies and work, we receive fair financial compensation and are treated as full employees when it comes to benefits. When I have a problem or any special requests, the responsible people always make an effort to find a solution.
