What fuels do Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean use today?
Today we use biofuel from waste streams and residues feedstocks that are unfit to use for human or animal consumption. These are referred to as second-generation biofuels. All biofuels we purchase are certified by International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC-EU). Additionally, Maersk has 24 methanol-enabled vessels on order for delivery between 2024 and 2027 and as a policy will only order new, owned vessels with duel-fuel engines. Together with the world's first methanol-enabled container vessel - Laura Maersk, the new fleet will be adding methanol fuel to the network and the ECO Delivery Ocean fuel mix.
