As part of our ongoing commitment to keep you informed of developments in the trailer driver strike in Bangladesh, we are pleased to inform you that following discussions with drivers and union leaders, the strike was called off last night - February 7th and cargo movement resumed.
While this is a positive step towards restoring normal operations, some delays may continue as we work diligently to clear backlogs and stabilize logistics flows. Our teams are actively coordinating efforts to ensure a smooth return to full service. We are in contact with depots and carriers to ensure that boxes loaded for export are prioritized according to vessel berth. In addition, we are scheduling boxes on the next immediate feeder vessels to provide viable connections.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you need any further assistance or have specific concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team—we are here to support you.
Thank you for your continued confidence in Maersk.
7 February 2025 - Update 01
A.P. Moller - Maersk is aware of the ongoing drivers' strike in Bangladesh, which is significantly affecting transport and logistics operations. As of Tuesday evening February 4th , 2025 CFS trailer drivers stopped moving trailers due to an incident at the DC Park. This work stoppage has significantly impacted sailing schedules and vessels at berth. While the strike was officially withdrawn by union leaders on Wednesday February 5th, 2025, many trailer drivers have not complied with the decision and continue to block trailer movement, further impacting cargo movement.
At Maersk, we are actively monitoring the situation and collaborating with local authorities and our logistics partners to mitigate disruptions. Our teams are in contact with the depot and feeder operators to ensure that movement can resume as soon as possible. This will allow the laden boxes to be transported to the port and loaded onto the designated vessel on a priority basis, minimizing any impact on your supply chain.
We understand the importance of timely and efficient freight movement to your business and remain committed to providing updates as the situation evolves.
Should any changes occur, we will communicate all information to you as soon as possible. As always, our teams are here to serve you. So please don’t hesitate to reach out to your local Customer Experience representative.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation together.
