How to book Cargo Insurance?

Cargo Insurance can be added to your booking in the following ways.

Contractual bookings

You can have Cargo Insurance included in your contractual agreement before booking.
The prices for contractual booking are listed below:
Available: For Maersk Ocean shipments only

Online bookings

You can have Cargo Insurance included in your contractual agreement during booking. This option is only available for EU domicile customers powered by Zurich Insurance.

Available: For Maersk ocean shipments only

Ad-hoc bookings

This coverage needs to be booked per shipment. Please reach out to us using the contact us form.

Available: For air, ocean- FCL and LCL, road, and rail shipments.

Maersk Cargo Insurance is available in the United States of America (USA), Europe, Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. This list is continuously evolving and new countries are being added frequently.

Maersk Cargo Insurance is not available in sanctioned countries.

If you are faced with an unforeseen event, the last thing you want to deal with is a lengthy claims process. In the event of a claim, please notify the concerned parties immediately.

Our simple three-step claims process enables you to focus on more important business while we handle the rest. Please reach out to our Claims Team with the completed claim form and supporting documents as mentioned below.

How to submit a claim?

  • Send the first notification of loss
    Inform us immediately if you find your cargo is damaged, or in case of a loss, by sending an email to cargoinsuranceclaims@maersk.com with your Bill of Lading (BL) or shipment number.
  • Gather your documentation and submit your claim
    Please use our checklist below to ensure all documents are completed before submitting the claims. We can only process the claims when all required documentations are received. Once you have all the documentations, please submit your claim by sending an email to cargoinsuranceclaims@maersk.com
  • Receive an answer
    We will notify you when our team has received all the necessary documentation to assess your claim.

Claims checklist

Each claim is unique and therefore, the documentation may vary. However, we require original copies of all the relevant documentation to process your claim.
