Update on Trade Restrictions between India and Pakistan

Thus, we are writing to inform you about the recent developments that are impacting the movement of cargo between India and Pakistan.

The South Asia region has been witnessing rising tensions between India and Pakistan. There have been restrictions on trade and marine traffic between the two countries. These restrictions are constantly evolving and as per the latest developments, the current updates on the trade restrictions include:

Pakistan: Indian exports and imports, remaining onboard (RoB), transiting through ports in Pakistan are allowed

India: Pakistan imports transiting through ports in India are allowed while Pakistan exports transiting through ports in India are not allowed

As a global integrated logistics company operating in a vast global network that connects both countries, we are closely monitoring this developing situation. In light of the developing restrictions, Maersk is actively realigning cargo movements to ensure full compliance with all governmental directives while minimising any disruption to your supply chains.

Our vessels continue to call on ports in Pakistan which continue to remain operational. However, our Mawingu service will omit calling at Port Qasim in Pakistan and an alternative transshipment solution has been developed via Salalah. All other operations continue to run normally.

In India, certain ports along the western coast are beginning to see delays due to operational challenges. CFS and air freight operations continue to run normally. However, we are witnessing lower truck movements in certain parts of the country.
