In the last year, we have more than doubled our warehousing footprint. Learn why we think this is important and how you as a customer will benefit.
In the recent year, we have made significant investments in Contract Logistics, which has had a profound impact on our business. We have more than doubled our warehousing footprint for fulfilment, consolidation, deconsolidation, while adding 20,000 new logistics experts.
In the coming years, we will continue to develop and invest in Contract Logistics, which covers operations within warehouse facilities such as consolidation, deconsolidation, fulfilment, distribution, container depots and related value-added services.
We see this as an increasingly important way for us to inject flexibility into our customers’ supply chains. As a customer, you should be allowed to quickly respond to changing demand patterns, to reduce costs by scaling up/down in response to demand changes, or when entering new markets or addressing supply chain disruptions.
Most customers want to balance flexibility with the ability to buy standardized solutions from us that allow them to procure everything from end-to-end to standalone solutions, with reliable and high-quality service delivery.
To meet this demand, we are building a mature range of Contract Logistics services to offer multiple capacity options globally – from large regional fulfilment centres to capacity on demand in multi-client warehouses or a network of facilities.
How you benefit as a customer
Building a strong Contract Logistics business has huge potential for you as a customer – Especially if you want to trust Maersk with managing a larger part of your supply chain, down to the SKU (stock keeping unit) level.
We are already able to offer a combination of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) services, and we can in this way provide a true omnichannel customer experience. For you as a customer, this means that you will have a fulfilment partner who can offer seamless integration with your supply chains across all channels and geographies enabling your business outcomes.
Having many different supply chain partners can result in poor cargo visibility and fragility in supply chains as any disruption mitigation requires extensive coordination between logistics and transportation providers, which adds to customer pain points. In Maersk, we can offer customers a true end-to-end, integrated logistics solution that removes many of these pain points and offer truly resilient supply chains.
