Our people are the foundation for our company’s capabilities, our growth, and our transformation into a genuine global integrator.
Why human capital matters
To ensure this transformation is successful, we need to ensure we can attract, engage and retain the right talent to take our vision of global integration all the way.
We aspire to create an engaging environment for all our colleagues, and to be a company where talented people can develop and enjoy thriving careers.
Highlights in 2023
Priorities and actions
To fulfil the purpose of our Global Integrator strategy, we need engaged employees and significant new capabilities. These include talent areas such as technology, data analysis, leadership, and sales and marketing – areas where competition for talent is fierce. Our focus on human capital reflects these priorities.
Featured highlights and case stories
Employee engagement in focus
We evaluate our progress on employee engagement using mainly two key metrics – our biannual global employee engagement survey and our voluntary attrition rate.
2023 saw a setback from the positive trend seen in previous years with an aggregate score on 60th percentile, down from 67th at the end of 2022.
We still consider this a solid result in a challenging business environment and extent of organizational change during 2023. Several follow-up actions are taken, including conducting listening sessions refining processes and policies as necessary, and continuous investment in leadership and overall capabilities.
Developing talents at Maersk
Attracting and retaining talents is a key lever for delivering on our strategy and in line with our purpose and value.
During 2023, we ramped up our efforts by supporting talent development through the launch of new upskilling platforms and through the introduction of a High Performing Teams journey with the vision of helping every team reach their full potential through a standardised, global approach to team development.
Over 140 teams started this journey, and we anticipate 600 teams will be in progress by the end of 2024.
